Our tap water can’t be that bad… can it?

Before we get started I want to note I know how it can feel to learn about tap water, or any of the other everyday things that have become toxic in our modern world, and feel super overwhelmed, which is why part of me is cringing right now. I want you to know that I am not here to spread fear, and I am so grateful for those who spoke out about tap water so I could learn more and decide to make different choices for our family, because it’s just our reality… but at least now we can make informed decisions.

OK SO… to begin, did you know that your skin is your largest organ?? And despite what most people think it’s not as much a barrier to the outside world as it is an interface WITH the outside world. That means certain things can come in and out. In fact, for some things it’s quite like a giant sponge!

It doesn’t take long for it to soak in toxins, like chlorine, that can come from our environment, especially tap water when we are enjoying our hot showers. (not to mention how much gets breathed in with the steam)

Unfortunately, most municipal water supplies are contaminated with harmful toxins. In fact, an analysis by the Environmental Working Group found over 320 harmful chemicals, linked to cancer, adverse birth and reproduction outcomes, impaired brain development and a revolving door of other deleterious health impacts. Contaminants commonly found in regular water include heavy metals, pesticides, petrochemicals, pharmaceutical compounds, endocrine-disrupting substances, and PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances)

Knowing this, purifying our water became one of our top priorities which turned into a lot of research and finding what works best for us, so below I share with you the 3 water filters we use in our home and why.

After moving out of our RV and into a rental home, we were once again faced with how terrible the city water was.
